These days, a credit card has become almost a necessity. Why, since I cancelled my American Express credit card, I have been unable to partake of a wide variety of goods and services, and that is no joke. Just ordering some clothes over the internet wasn’t possible and how basic is that in today’s world. Not that many years ago, people preferred cash to credit, but not now.

Credit Cards

It’s now normal almost everywhere in the world to use your Mastercard, Visa or American Express to pay for goods or services you may not even need with money they do not have. You cannot escape though, as the price is high when using your American Express credit card and buy it now, pay tomorrow philosophy. Unfortunately, credit card debts are mounting in many places around the world. Today, credit card debt is one of the biggest worries facing us in America.

This is the primary reason I decided to cancel my American Express credit card recently. Once I had the power to buy things without parting with my money immediately, I was almost unstoppable. Mounting debts lead me to realize that I had been using my card for everything and anything including food! When the debt became so great that I couldn’t possibly pay it, I began to panic.

I actually had to go through a debt refinancing service to get my credit card debt into some kind of shape where I could hope to pay it. This is not something I ever want to happen again. Now, I have gotten my debt paid off and cancelled my American Express credit card. It’s easy to blame the credit card you may say, but you need to understand something about people.

Paying with cash makes you aware of how much things cost. It’s easy using a credit card and at the time quite painless. It wasn’t until I had spent all my money I’d realize that I had been spending it like a running tap. So remember, if you don’t have an American Express card, you don’t have any worries.
